Inertia
Date
20th October 2018
Inertia/lethargy (a tendency to do nothing/remain unchanged)
Suddenly I’m still. Toothbrush in hand,
Paste in teeth, other hand on sill,
Ramrod straight, eyes in the mirror,
Head in the clouds, Mannequin type of still.
Out of focus, the uninspiring tiled white walls
Melt out of focus, the dead chill of the ceramic sink
Fade from touch, by the resounding streaming water,
I’m entranced, enthralled, pulle…
Into some place, a wacky, weird,
Wonderful Kind of space,
Where the grass is blue
And the skies are green
Where possibilities are realities
And reality is inconsequential
Where potential is actualised
And imagination is realised…
I soar with ‘Raphael’s Angels’,
In this space where the stars dance
And the soul is freed, I walk with Plato,
Upwards he points, past the rainbow,
Where Blyton sways with the fair folk
And Andersen floats with the mer- folk
Past Grimms elves and some shoemakers
I am grasped by Inspiration, we dally and
Spin without trepidation
Then I stumble into Galileo, with a push
He shoves me towards Aristotle,
With a downward pointing finger I’m led….
Out of Inspirations grasp, by friendly foes
Inertia and Lethargy, we’re all so close,
I could taste lethargy like the stagnant paste in my mouth
I felt inertia, by her weighted whisperings in my ear
Bed and pillows
Pen and paper
Bed and pillows
Pen and paper
Bed and pillows
Warmth and comfort
Tomorrow, I say, tomorrow, I’ll do that
But tomorrow was yesterday and the day before that
Tomorrow will be this next day, this next year, or maybe the year after that.
